In the dark ages before EA Sports and Madden, PAYDIRT was the closest you could get to simulating NFL games. This is the Fall 1979 edition of the game published by Avalon Hill, and includes the team charts from the 1979 NFL season that culminated in Pittsburgh’s 35-31 win over Dallas in Super Bowl XIII. All of the components and player aids are here with the exception of the football that was used to mark the line of scrimmage on the field. I’ve included the penny I used in its place. There are even a number of blank score sheets, and I’ll include used sheets as well. The game was originally published by Time Warner under the name Sports Illustrated Pro Football. Current team charts are still available at datadrivenfootball.com. These are very hard to come by.
