Job Description

REMUNERATION: R548 760 BASIC SALARY PER ANNUM

PURPOSE:
Manage effectively all functions related to the maintenance of larger valves/pipes PRVs and Onsite Services at all the Informal Settlements within the region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and implement schedules for maintenance, repairs, upgrades and installations of mechanical and water-related equipment. Plan and allocate resources, ensuring the availability of equipment, materials, tools and workforce. Align operational activities with company objectives, performance standards, safety compliance and legal requirements. Prepare and manage emergency response plans, including scheduling standby and overtime duties. Manage and control proper construction, operations, repair and maintaining of the water and sanitation network in accordance with productivity norms, service standards, statutory and other safety requirement and JW codes of practice. Manage the provision, servicing and maintenance of the chemical toilets an onsite sanitation. Operate, maintain and install large valves, PRVs, Air Valves etc. and pipes up to 1500mm diameter on the network. Contribute to the formulation of the strategic plan for the region to provide onsite sanitation and chemical toilets. Manage the usage of assets. Manage staff in line with HR policies. Maintain accurate expenditure records for mechanical plants, materials and equipment. Ensure expenditure aligns with operational objectives and budgets. Opitimize operations, including standby, leave, and absenteeism management. Ensure all operations comply with statutory requirements outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Carry out responsibilities outlined under GMR2.1 and CR6 appointments and other relevant safety roles (eg Disaster Management Representative, Safety Committee Representative) Manage, monitor and enforce workplace safety requirements by conducting risk assessments and on-the-job evaluation. Liaison with contractors, customers, members of the public, suppliers, other departments and utilities Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders including Special Services, Unaccounted for Water Loss, Communication department, Electromech, Cut-Off and Welding department on a 24/7 basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 or N3 (NQF 4).
Fitter or Welder or Bricklayer Trade Test Certificate /Appropriate Learnership NQF 4
5 years’ relevant experience in all functions related to the maintenance of larger valves/pipes, PRV’s and Onsite Services in all informal settlements of which of which 2 years must at a supervisory level.
Valid drivers’ licence
